Koo Wee Rup ARC Drill Display

1T8A8183On Sunday the 18th of January, A large congregation of Koo Wee Rup riders descended on to the Merricks Saddle Club grounds to compete in their first Quadrille and Pas De Duex competition.

Of the 13 horses and riders in this team, over half of the horses were registered Australian Stock Horses and ridden by West Gippsland ASH Branch members.

The routine which was directed and coached by Leigh Kirby, a past Victorian Mounted Police member, wowed the large crowd which certainty stood to attention and in awe of what the team had to show.

There was a slight sprinkling of drizzle, but no one ran for shelter while the riders performed different elements of their routine, including a “Big Wheel”, cross over’s and cantering a 20 meter circle with 12 horses turning into the centre, reining back and then taking up the canter the opposite way.

The Team had Katherine Jamison from Peninsular Pix on hand to photograph this wonderful visual spectacular that saw inspiring music from The Man From Snowy River and the movements were choreographed to complement what the crowd could hear

There was a standing ovation from not only the crowd, but the panel of 4 judges. The results were read out with the Koo Wee Rup Riders team winning with a score of 92.5%.
